Vocational/Academic Education at Wythenshawe Campus
Vocational Education blends real life trades and skills with academic learning to provide experience and knowledge to help all students’ progress through life.
Students from year 10 have the opportunity to work through multiple levels of City & Guild & BTEC qualifications which are well regarded and sort after by employers and further education establishments.
Vocational Education provides real life learning in a classroom environment. The vocational curriculum is consistently growing, currently through the development of 3 different vocational routes which we believe enhance students learning and gives them a focus for further education and training.
Vocational Education develops cross curricular links across all aspects of the school with particular focuses on Literacy and Numeracy opportunities throughout each lesson. Students use knowledge developed in other lessons to solve different problems that occur within the different tasks they have to build and create.
All pupils study at Wythenshawe Campus will have core lessons of Mathematics, English and ICT until the end of Key Stage 4. Our curriculum provision enables all students to have the opportunity to learn and make progress in a range of specialised vocational subjects as well being able to achieve and attain in the traditional academic subjects Mathematics, English and ICT. Every opportunity, for all students, is provided to enable students to develop their speaking, listening, Literacy and Numeracy skills, as set out in the schemes of work for each curriculum area.
